What Is The Horsepower Duck Vac?

Duck Vac

According to brand, the Horsepower Duck Vacuum is a compact cleaning vacuum with super-powerful suction, ready to outperform any bulky vacuum cleaner.  It also claims that it has a turbocharged motor that is engineered to create a powerful vortex of suction, while the advanced HEPA filter works hard to remove dust particles and allergens, truly refreshing the air you breathe in.

Sharing My Personal Experience Using The Duck Vac

I saw an Ad for the Duck Vac on TV and then placed an order for mine. Though it took some time but I finally received it, well all I can say is that it fell short of my expectations. The Duck Vac is marketed as a convenient solution for cleaning up dust and small debris, but my experience with it was far from satisfying.

First off, the suction power was noticeably weak. Even when dealing with light dust, I found myself going over the same spot multiple times without much success. The unit is also quite noisy for the level of performance it delivers, which is frustrating when you’re expecting a quick and quiet cleanup.

Assembly was another pain point. The pieces didn’t fit together seamlessly, and I had to fidget with them longer than expected to get everything in place. Once assembled, the vac felt a bit flimsy and cheaply made. The plastic parts didn’t seem durable, which makes me question its durability and longevity.

One of the biggest issues was the battery life. It barely lasted long enough to clean a small area before needing a recharge. Given how long it took to get any noticeable results, this was a major drawback. Also, emptying the dust compartment was messier than anticipated, with dust and debris spilling out, defeating the purpose of using it in the first place.

Overall, the Duck Vac felt like more hassle than help. It might work for the lightest of tasks, but if you’re expecting a reliable, efficient cleaner, this one falls short.

How Much Is The Horsepower Duck Vacuum

The Horsepower Duck Vac is sold for $39.99 on the getduckvac.com website.

How To Use The Duck Vac

Using the Duck Vac is fairly straightforward, though it does come with a few quirks. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get the best out of it:

  • Before using it for the first time, charge the Duck Vac fully. Connect the charging cable to the vac and plug it into a power source. The indicator light should signal when it’s charging. Charging may take a few hours, so it’s best to let it reach full capacity.
  • Locate the power button, usually positioned on the handle or body of the vac. Press it to turn on the device.
  • Hold the Duck Vac by the handle and guide it over the area you want to clean. Move slowly to allow the vac to pick up dust and debris.
  • Once you’ve finished or if the compartment is full, turn off the vac and detach the dust compartment.
  • After each use, it’s a good idea to wipe down the vac and clean the filters (if applicable) to maintain suction power.

Alternatives

If you’re looking for a more effective alternative to the Duck Vac, consider these options:

These alternatives offer better suction power, battery life, and overall reliability, making them worth considering if the Duck Vac doesn’t meet your needs.

Conclusion

Overall, the Duck Vac did not deliver on its promises for me.

  1. Thank you for your review. I had surgery on both wrists in the past 4 years and it wasn’t completely successful. I have less strength especially my right wrist. I’m right handed. I need something simple and it sounds like it would make things even more stressful. Thank you so much.

  2. Your review was most helpful -based on ad thought these might make good family holiday gifts given size esp to keep in car…..own/have owned both Dustbuster and shark versions and will stick to name brand …still famous “you get what you pay for!” Thx again !

  3. Thank you so much Juliet! Saved me money I don’t need to be spending. Also, the DuckVac website states you can return minus S&H pd and you have to return on your own.. probably will cost another $12. So that’s about $20 spent if I don’t like it.

  4. Thank you. I’m glad I saw your review BEFORE ordering. I appreciate the time you took to warn others, including myself.

    1. Thank you! Yesterday I was searching for the. Duck and the store was sold out. (my blessing)! Now I can save time by marking it off my list!

  5. Plain and simple, don’t buy thus piece of junk. Can’t even pick up 1 small piece of dog food around our chihuahuas food dish. Totally useless and worthless.

  6. I appreciate your review, but you didn’t mention that there is no replacement filter available. When it quits on you, you have to buy a new vacuum. This is totally unacceptable, expensive, and wasteful. Good job on the review otherwise.

  7. As many have stated about the short battery life of the Duck Vac there is a reason.
At least 90% of the wall adapters you can purchase so as to use the USB plug in, most all of them are only 5 volt adapters. The Duck Vac has 2-7.4 volt rechargeable batteries. The problem is, a 5 volt charger can not fully charge a
7.4 volt batter and could eventually damage the batteries.
Why would the company not include the correct type of plug in adapter for their
product. They are only hurting themselves in bypassing this important issue.
They say the run time is between 16 and 20 minutes… Mine lasts approximately
3 minutes if that. Unacceptable…….. I’ll keep using my Dyson Hand Held, thank you very much…

  9. What did you expect? Just another made in China TV miracle tool, poorly built, bad performance and waiting for a gullible consumer to buy it.

  10. I just used mine and had better success. It cleaned up a lot better than our central vacuum on carpet and hardwood floors. I was in a hurry so I didn’t charge it totally.
    Thanks for battery news.

  11. We used ours 2times and it died. Full charged and it blew and has not worked since. My husband bought it to use around me to clean up crumbs but it just flashed and died. I want a refund mailed to William. Jackson 582 Dry Creek Rd Goodlettsville,TN 37072.

  12. I bought the Duck at Walmart, not realizing the filter could not be replaced. Built in obsolescence from China! I use a toothbrush to get the dirt out of the filter. What a waste of time. Clean up a mess – then clean the vacuum! My one and only Bulb-head product. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me”.
