Flex Seal Spray

I bought the Flex Seal Spray and I would be sharing my honest review of this so called waterproof sealant. Stick with me as I review its claims to easily open up clogged pipes and to also let you know if you should go ahead and buy it!

What Is The Flex Seal Spray?

According to brand, the Flex Seal Spray is a liquid spray that dries to a rubberized coating that stops leaks fast.

Sharing My Personal Experience Using The Flex Seal Spray

I was pretty excited to try out Flex Seal Spray after seeing all those commercials about how it can stop leaks and seal just about anything. I had a small crack in an outdoor plastic chair and a leaky gutter that I thought would be perfect to test it on.

First impressions: the spray nozzle was easy to use, and the product coated surfaces pretty evenly. I went for the black version because I figured it would blend in with most surfaces. For the chair, it seemed to work great at first—I sprayed on a couple of layers and let it dry overnight. By the next day, the crack was sealed and looked smooth.

The gutter, on the other hand, was a different story. It sealed the area temporarily, but after a couple of days of rain, the leak started coming back. I even tried reapplying a second coat, but it didn’t seem to hold up well against water pressure.

Also, the drying time was longer than I expected. The can says it’s “fast drying,” but it took over 24 hours to really cure properly. And the smell? It’s strong. I had to make sure I used it in a well-ventilated area because it lingered for hours.

Overall, I’d say Flex Seal is okay for quick fixes on small projects that don’t need to withstand a lot of wear and tear, but it’s not the miracle product I was hoping for. If you’re dealing with something like gutters or anything exposed to constant water, you might need a more heavy-duty solution.

Alternatives

If the Flex Seal Spray didn’t work well for you, here are a few reliable options that tend to perform well for unclogging drains:

  • Rust-Oleum LeakSeal
  • Plasti Dip Spray
  • Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Spray
  • 3M All Weather Flashing Tape

These alternatives are well-regarded for their performance, and you should be able to find a suitable option based on your specific needs.

Conclusion

In the end, Flex Seal Spray is a decent product for minor and quick repairs, especially on items that don’t face constant wear or water pressure. While it worked well for sealing a small crack on my plastic chair, it fell short when used on my leaky gutter. I think it’s a handy tool to have for emergencies or temporary fixes, but it’s not a permanent solution for every situation. If you’re dealing with heavy-duty leaks or projects exposed to the elements, you might want to consider something more robust. For small, DIY repairs, though, it can be a lifesaver in a pinch!
