Overview of Nestlé USA Mugs
Nestlé recalled over 440,000 metallic Starbucks mugs from 2023 holiday gift sets because they pose a risk of overheating and causing cuts.
The recall includes four types of gift sets with ceramic mugs coated in metallic material, featuring Starbucks logos, and available in sizes of 11 ounces and 16 ounces.

The Nestlé gift sets were named Starbucks Holiday Gift Set with 2 Mugs, Starbucks Classic Hot Cocoa and Mug, Starbucks Peppermint and Classic Hot Cocoas and Mug, and Starbucks Holiday Blend Coffee and Mug.
Where Nestlé Metallic Mugs were Sold
The Starbucks mugs were sold online, at Target and Walmart, and in Nexcom stores nationwide between November 2023 and January 2024 for around $10, $13, or $20.
Incidents Reported against Nestlé Mugs Starbucks Gift Sets
Nestlé reported 12 instances of mugs overheating or breaking, leading to 10 injuries. These included nine severe burns on fingers or hands and one finger cut, with one incident needing medical attention. While no legal action has been taken against Nestlé for the recall, Top Class Actions monitors such recalls closely as they sometimes result in class action lawsuits.
Consumers are urged to stop using the mugs immediately and return them to where they were purchased for a cash refund or gift card. Nestlé also offers refunds via check for affected customers.
